A fixture of the sci-fi/fantasy genre in recent years, David S. Goyer has now dropped out of directing Sony’s long in-development feature film reboot of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.
Goyer, reportedly in talks to helm the feature as recently as November, has been forced to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts. Despite never officially signing on as director, he will reportedly remain involved as a writer and executive producer.
At present, Goyer remains committed to an executive producer role on SyFy’s Superman prequel series Krypton and is said to be hard at work on an event series adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s Foundation trilogy.
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is reportedly still targeting a December 2019 release.
